the conversation you're avoiding: how to actually have it.

the whole thing, free. no gate, no signup.

  1. name it to yourself first. one sentence: "i need to tell ___ that ___." if you can't finish the sentence, that's the real work. write it until it's true.
  2. kill the imaginary version. you've had this conversation 100 times in your head and they always respond the worst way. that rehearsal is not preparation, it's poison. their real response is not yours to script.
  3. open with the cost, not the case. don't build a lawyer's argument. try: "there's something i've been avoiding saying, and avoiding it has been changing how i act around you." that sentence has never started a fight.
  4. say the thing in under 30 seconds. the longer the windup, the more they brace. short, honest, done. then stop talking. the silence after is them actually hearing you. don't rescue them from it.
  5. their first reaction is not their final answer. people need a lap around the block. give the conversation permission to be unfinished: "you don't have to respond right now."
  6. wiser is the win, not agreement. some conversations end with the relationship changed, not fixed. you said the thing. that's the whole assignment. hesitation kills, communication doesn't.

if you have this conversation, or you're still avoiding it, dm me the word TALK. i want to hear how it went. that's not a bot thing, i actually read these.
